CTC strengthens its network of contacts at the world’s most significant nuclear energy event

The CTC Technology Centre has held several bilateral meetings with different international agents during the third edition of the World Nuclear Exhibition, the world’s leading event for the nuclear energy sector. More than 20,000 people attended this major conference recently held in Paris.

Roberto Báscones Vega, Industry and Energy researcher, and Alberto Puras, R&D&I Management Coordinator at CTC, met with institutional bodies, manufacturers, developers and research centres from different countries to explore ways of future collaboration.

In addition to holding B2B meetings with European and American agents, the representatives of CTC took advantage of the event to learn about the challenges faced by the builders of Small Modular Reactors (SMR): a new concept of a modular nuclear power plant, designed to supply energy in environments that lack either the necessary infrastructures or the minimum consumption to make their installation profitable.

SMRs are an innovation compared to the traditional model, as they allow for a modular installation adapted to the real needs of each area. Moreover, as this model is still at an early stage, its development is an excellent business opportunity for CTC. The capabilities and know-how of the centre’s team of researchers make it a suitable technological partner to participate in the design and analysis of this new model.

Currently, the most advanced developers in the world, who are in the United States, are trying to solve both the design chapter and the risks associated with the process of licensing a technology such as this one.
